The Natural History Museum pt 4

Here are some more images from my visit to the Natural History museum, if you live in London and never visited the place I strongly recommend it!

The Natural History Museum pt 3

I had a great day at the National History museum today, I went with a friend visiting from Sweden who will become a Nature Science teacher soon so he is very interested in the evolution and biology and animals - just like me. As we were in my favourite section of the museum, the Spirit Collection, I asked the staff if it was possible to book private views and see more of all the species within the museum - and guess what? They said that they were just about to give some scientists from a museum in Netherlands a small tour and that my friend and I could join if we wanted! How great is that!

Unfortunately we were not allowed to use our cameras down in the basement but I have seen a conserved giant deep sea squid that was caught outside the Falkland Islands in 2004 (or was it 2002? Hmm..anyway), it was a she with the nickname Archie and she was bigger then a double decker bus. After that was shown a special cupboard with conserved animals, it was from Darwin's own collection!

My only complaints about the day is that the cafe has horrible coffee and that the museum is not showing enough insects and spiders - otherwise, what a great museum, to even let people come in behind the scenes and get a glimpse to see how the work, I loved it!

Big thanks to Oli who let us join the tour!

Nya Rum issue 4

Yes, finally it is here!

I have been waiting for this and have been so, so curious about how they were going to feature my Budgie Love wallpaper and today the magazine arrived, the latest issue of the Swedish magazine Nya Rum and even though there is just a tiny bit of my Budgie Love Wallpaper that you hardly can see - I am excited! Wow, my wallpaper is in a magazine!  :)

Thanks to the photographer Karl Anderson and the stylist Dennis Valencia. Click on their names to visit their websites and see more amazing interior styling and photography. Karl and Dennis also sent me some of the images that in the end was not used in the magazine;

Funny how things work, I just said a few days ago that this year I did not get the flu, should not have done that, three days after it hit me and today is day number five with a runny nose and fever... If anyone knows any amazing remedies, let me know!

While being sick I have gone through some old drawings, and the one above is one of my favourites, Super Cat. I don't draw this way very often any more, I think I needed a period of experimenting and trying things to be able to identify what is me and what my work is all about, and me is definitely drawing ugly characters so there will be more of that as soon as I can get out of bed.

Something very nice happened while I was sick, Design Ark featured some of my work, I am especially happy about it as I follow the Design Ark and think its a brilliant blog dedicated to design, photography art and illustration, definitely check them out!

My Desk

This is my desk where I work. It looks quite tidy at the moment I have to confess, probably because I just had a swipe clean and filled a drawer unit under the desk with sketches, paper, pens, glue sticks and God knows what. I do collect things, especially pens, paper and doodles, I already have a large box under my bed filled...but how do you throw away drawings? I find it extremely hard.

At the moment I am testing my birthday hamster as a print, I like him in the silver frame on my desk but I am not sure yet. You can get a glimpse of other stuff I am working on on my wall, new hand collage prints and some 50's inspired portraits but it looks a bit warped in the photo, probably because my wall is not straight.

Now I am gonna crash into bed.

Give Away

I am home sick and has spent the most of the last days passed out in bed with fever, today I made it to the computer so I thought that I could do something fun, how about a new Give away?

The winners of the last two Give Away's never replied and sent me their addresses and I waited and I waited and I e-mailed but no, so I think it's time to let someone else win all the stuff now and here it is;

I Love My Bike T-shirt in Size M

Blue Hello Tiger Pocket-mirror

And a Dream collection set of postcards.

You don't need to be witty or answer questions to win, you just need to leave a message in this blog posts comment section and in three weeks I will randomly pick a winner, Good Luck!

PS. if you do not send me your address then I will not be able to send you your prize. If you don't have a blogger account, remember to check the Winner announcement that will be posted in three weeks.
