That's it, my Thursdays at the Roller-skate Disco is finished wrapped up and ready to go to the On These Magic Shores exhibition at the O3 Gallery in Oxford with artists like Gemma Correll, Sarah Ray, Julia Pott, Kris Tate and Jamie Mitchell.

I had so much fun working on my piece, if I have time I will make a little animated monster disco.

But now it's time for dinner.

On These Magic Shores

My room is filled with monsters, bits of paper, coffee mugs and it is a mess! I am working on my piece for On These Magic Shores exhibition that will take place at the O3 Gallery in Oxford in the beginning of May, and I have been hit by a big wave of performance anxiety at the same time as I think that I have been hit by über excitement as I have been asked to especially do something with monsters, which is my favourite thing. Here is some more information regarding the exhibition;

On These Magic Shores by O3 Gallery, in association with Comma, will feature the work of a selection of the UK's leading illustrators in a group exhibition showcasing some of the very best contemporary illustration.

Focussing on and celebrating the playful, imaginative world's portrayed by these illustrators, the exhibition will explore the witty narratives and contemporary visual twists on traditional folklore imagery found in these works.

The show opens on the 4th of May and will be up and running until the 16th of June at;

O3 Gallery
Oxford Castle Quarter
QX1 1AY
UK

I can't wait to see it!

Pattern Power and the power of Mom's

 photo patternpower1copyasawikman-1.jpg

I am spoiled living here in east London. I hardly ever go into central London or any where else for that matter, sounds boring maybe, but I have everything I need around the corner. The Colombian flower market, Brick Lane market with international food, washing powder and fruit mixed in with vintage clothes, designers selling their products and people who just cleaned their house and want to sell off some stuff on the street, old office furniture, tools and God knows what -  whatever you are looking for, I am sure you can find it on Brick lane market.

And then there are all this galleries and event spaces around east London with exhibitions and happenings, just around the corner. Today was a good example of how spoiled I am. I had a coffee at Allpress, continued down Redchurch Street and noticed that PATTERNITY is arranging a festival celebrating patterns at London Newcastle Project Space just a few meters down the street with open workshops, film and music nights, industry talks and events and a exhibition, Superstripe, with free entrance. Great for a pattern lover like me!

Here are some photos from the exhibition;

Then on the same street about 2 minutes away, this years Secret 7 exhibition opened this weekend. Crazy. I grew up in the north of Sweden where some people drive an hour just to get to a shop and buy milk - now I live in the most vibrant part of London and have so much culture around me that yes, I feel spoiled - and very lucky.

The Secret 7 exhibition is held in the advertising agency Mother's basement and some of their walls are filled with framed portraits of women, guess what it is?

Every employee brings in a portrait of their mom which is framed and added to the collection with a nice little sign "Proud Mother of …." and then the name of the employee. I like that.

Now I will stop bragging about east London and go to bed.

Spring Give Away!

 photo BudgieLoveT-shirtforwomenbyasawikmanforblog2copyasawikman.jpg

Its finally spring!

And how we have been waiting…we even had a snowstorm here in London last week, and it's April.

It feels like everyone has been ill, depressed or not wanting to leave their house for weeks and weeks but finally it looks like it's about to turn and we have been promised a heath wave next week with temperatures up to +20C, so I am in a good mood and has decided to give away a tight fit, 100% cotton Budgie Love t-shirt in medium size, and guess what? It is the last Budgie Love t-shirt for women, I am not sure if I will make more t's with this design or not so it might be the last chance to get one.

What do you have to do to win one?

Just leave your name in the comment box and I will write all the names down on notes and randomly pick one and announce the winner on the 1st of May,

Good Luck and enjoy the sun!

PS. Remember to come back on the 1st of May to see if you won or not so that we can get in contact and I can send you your t.

Doodle-di-do

Where to buy second hand clothes in east London

I never really blog about shopping, fashion, food etc but, I will do that now. On Brick lane here in east London there are two shops where second hand clothes aren't more expensive then new, which seems to be the norm in London, instead everything costs £10 and in the end of every month when they get new stock, they sell everything in their basements for £5. Not bad.

And you are re using old stuff so you are environmental friendly as well, yeay! Everything is clean and in a very good state, some pieces looks like they never ever been worn. I got this out fit today for £30, £10 per item.

You wanna know where these two bargain places are?
